Aldi and Morrisons 'do not eat' message as sandwiches recalled (2024)

Customers of Aldi, Tesco, Morrisons and other supermarkets are being urged to check their cupboards, fridges and freezers after a series of food products were recalled.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issues recall alerts for various reasons, including potential listeria monocytogenes contamination, undisclosed allergens on the packaging or detection of metal in the product. When a product is recalled, the FSA provides details on what consumers should do if they have purchased the item, as well as comprehensive information on why the item has been withdrawn from sale.

The most recent list includes over 100 sandwiches, paninis, rolls, toasties and wrap products, chicken kebabs from Aldi, cooked chicken from Morrisons and chocolate bars from Tesco. Anyone who has bought the items listed below is advised not to consume them.

Instead, they should return them to the store for a full refund. A receipt is not required, reports Lancs Live.

The Real Wrap Company Ltd is taking the precautionary step of recalling 101 ready-to-eat products including sandwiches, paninis, rolls, toasties and wraps due to the possible presence of listeria monocytogenes. This recall only affects products sold at retail stores in healthcare settings.

The FSA has issued a statement saying, "Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis."

They added, "Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including older people, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems. The Real Wrap Company is recalling the above products."

Furthermore, they advised, "Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products."

The FSA also instructed, "If you have bought any of the above products from health care settings, do not eat it. Instead, return it to where it was bought for a refund. For further information, please contact the Real Wrap Company at enquiries@realwrap.co.uk."

For those seeking more details on the recall, the FSA directed consumers to visit the FSA notice here.
