Fallout 76 has done well to continually add post-launch content since its initial release in 2018, with its live service approach offering a lot of fresh experiences for long-time fans. A huge way in which the title consistently provides these new experiences is by expanding the playable areas of the release, with its portrayal of Appalachia featuring a diverse range of different biomes, locations, and wildlife.
Outside the core gameplay of Fallout 76, the game has also introduced Expeditions, a type of mission that sees players go to unique standalone locations outside of Appalachia. The first Expedition for Fallout 76 took players back to The Pitt, which previously appeared in the IP as the primary location of a Fallout 3 expansion of the same name. Using these expeditions to give a fresh perspective on some of the most iconic past Fallout locations is a great way to tie 76 to the wider franchise, and now could be a perfect time for a new Expedition that revisits the fan-favorite New Vegas and its surrounding regions.

Fallout 76 May Need to Pump the Brakes on One Addition in Future Updates
With as much as Fallout 76 is expected to grow in future updates, it shouldn’t overdo itself regarding a specific addition to the game.

A New Vegas Expedition Would Be Perfect For Fallout 76
The Pitt expedition for Fallout 76 was released in September 2022, opening up the title to a new brand of gameplay with endless possibilities. Not only can Expeditions be used to offer brief glimpses into unique never-before-seen franchise locations, but they can also be smartly used to offer fantastic insights into locations that have already appeared throughout Fallout's history.
Despite this utility, only one other Expedition has been released for Fallout 76, with the Atlantic City Expedition being released in December 2023. Atlantic City was introduced via this Expedition, marking its debut in the Fallout franchise, with the location's in-game focus on debauchery and gambling being very reminiscent of the themes that helped make New Vegas so memorable.
Of course, the difference in terrain and the involved factions of Atlantic City and New Vegas are more than enough to make a New Vegas Expedition stand out as unique, and there is a clear demand for this kind of content within the franchise's community. New Vegas has always been considered a cult-classic Fallout game, still possessing a dedicated community to this day, and many fans have been hoping for a Fallout New Vegas 2 ever since the game was released in 2010.
New Vegas Already Has a Place in the Future of the Fallout Franchise
New Vegas has even made recent appearances in extended Fallout media, with the recent and highly popular Fallout TV show ending with a teaser that indicates that the city of New Vegas will feature heavily in the show's next season. It seems a perfect time to release a New Vegas Expedition because of this, with many new fans potentially being introduced to the city for the first time in this upcoming season.
Older fans of the franchise will be equally excited to simply revisit the world of New Vegas, with Fallout 76's setting taking place almost 200 years prior to the events of Fallout: New Vegas. This sadly means that key factions like Caesar's Legion would not yet exist if Fallout 76 were to feature New Vegas, and Mr. House's restoration plan for the city would not come to fruition until decades later, but the relatively unscathed city of New Vegas would still be ripe for visitation.
Prior to Mr. House's influence on the city, New Vegas was characterized as a lawless city in disrepair, and it would be fascinating to see what this would look like in-game so long before the New Vegas that fans have come to know and love. Not only would a Fallout 76 Expedition centered around New Vegas give great insight into just how much Mr. House would go on to repair and stabilize the location, but it would also thrust the city back into the forefront of the IP, ready for its involvement in the future of Fallout's massively successful TV show.
