Looks like a good promotion on the surface but..... 'a UK-based water company' partnering with the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24. I'm not convinced.....1) Water comes out of a tap 🚰 Reusable bottles should be encouraged over single use containers.2) The packaging - claims to be fully recyclable but looks like multi-materials so most recycling facilities aren't a huge fan. Also is it the best container if you take into account resource use, land use, water and carbon over the full life cycle???Its important to understand all the elements, they state:- made solely of responsibly-sourced - ok how and where are they sourcing the materials? - renewable or recycled materials - how much?- which is fully recyclable - its multi-material so not optimal for recycling - carbon-neutral - means buying offsets - is it credible?World Athletics have an amazing sustainability programme - just a watch out for greenwashing..... From 2000 to 2003 BP, Shell, Norsk Hydro, Ford, GM, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, DaimlerChrysler, Renault and Volkswagen met in Geneva, Switzerland at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development; to analyze whether the global number of vehicles can continue to grow, whether roads can support the increasing volume of cargo, whether airports and airspace can handle future air traffic, and whether fuel will be available for trucks, buses, cars and planes.Their study led them to CO2 emissions and from there they saw competition with all industrial production, electricity generation, forest fires and home heating.The project clearly explained how companies compete for water and air use with growing populations and their energy and heating needs, which are under government control everywhere. T&E and 14 European organisations are today calling on national football teams to choose sustainable travel to or within Germany for the European Championships 2024.The coalition is urging teams to choose low-emitting means of transport like rail or avoid frequent flying to or within Germany where possible.Teams based in France or the UK for example could easily access games by train, drastically cutting their climate impact. Will national teams become champions for sustainable travel during Euro 2024?NGOs across Europe have asked their national football teams to commit to traveling sustainably for the European Championships 2024, avoiding flying and choosing means of transport like rail to and/or within Germany.For example, if the French team took the (direct) train instead of the plane to travel from Paris to Dortmund, they would reduce their CO2 equivalent emissions by 98%. For the Paris Olympics, the national teams of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany have already committed to travelling to Paris by train in order to reduce their emissions.
