Though it had an infamously disastrous launch, Fallout 76 has ended up becoming one of the strongest MMOs on the market. Over the last six years, Fallout 76 has received countless patches, fixes, and updates, all of which have combined to finally make it a game worthy of the franchise's name. Players can now freely explore the biggest 3D Fallout map to date alongside a team of friends with very few technical hiccups, and there's a lot of content to explore.
Fallout 76 has received almost 20 major updates in the last six years, each one bringing with it a wealth of new gameplay content, from voiced NPCs and questlines, to new bosses, to entirely new open-world areas. It'll take newcomers well over 100 hours to see most of what Fallout 76 has to offer, but if they feel like they're ready for a new Sci-Fi MMO experience, then Dune: Awakening should be on their radar.

Dune: Awakening Might Scratch That Sci-Fi Itch
While Fallout 76's universe often leans more into fantasy than Sci-Fi, it still retains much of the franchise's retro-futuristic and atompunk aesthetic. Players can still find an assortment of laser weaponry and high-tech gadgetry, and many of Fallout 76's locations still feature Sci-Fi elements, such as Skyline Valley's robotic Storm Goliaths. If Fallout 76 fans are looking for their next Sci-Fi MMO fix, then Dune: Awakening's universe could be the perfect pick.
Based on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel Dune and the plethora of sequels and adaptations that have come after it, Dune: Awakening seems to lean heavily into the franchise's Sci-Fi roots. From mechanical dragonfly-like Ornithopters, to laser cannons, to jetpacks, to sandworms, Dune: Awakening will give Sci-Fi fans plenty to play around with.
But what should really put Dune: Awakening on Fallout 76 fans' radar is its familiar mechanics. Though gameplay details are still a little sparse, everything revealed about Dune: Awakening so far should spark the interest of Fallout 76 fans. First and foremost, Dune: Awakening is set to feature a large open-world that primarily consists of deserts, makeshift encampments, and technologically advanced cities. The dunes of Arrakis are sure to feel right at home to any Fallout 76 fan who's made their way across the Appalachian Wasteland.
In Dune: Awakening's open-world, players will be able to create their own bases from scratch. Players can construct sleek metallic bases one wall at a time and eventually fill them with an array of useful workbenches and similar facilities. Once fully constructed, players can then scan their base, save the blueprint, and automatically build the same base somewhere else on Arrakis.
The world of Arrakis is also packed to the brim with events and missions that should appeal to most Fallout 76 fans. In Dune: Awakening's recent gameplay trailer, it was revealed that hundreds of players can descend on a Spice-Blow at the same time. These events appear as vibrant storm clouds in the sky, and the goal is for players to harvest as much Spice as they can and get out of the area alive. Though that's much easier said than done, as other players and guilds are all fighting for the same resource.
