Phoenix's first co-op grocery store is now selling memberships! Buying a membership (only $100 for a lifetime) can help them build towards their first brick-and-mortar location.Co-ops are common elsewhere in the country and play a pivotal role in supporting the local food system, bring healthy food to underserved communities, and gives you a big say in how it is run.Being a member gives you voting power on all major co-op decisions and the opportunity to earn profit dividends. We work directly with local growers throughout Arizona, know them by name, and ensure that profits go directly back into the community rather than out-of-state, wealthy shareholders. Winsight Grocery Business tracks new grocery openings each month. It's not scientific--we report on what we know about. But I do think it gives a good snapshot of what's up in the industry and who the fastest-growing chains are. #grocery #groceryindustry #groceryretail

Royal Farms plans to open its first store in Richmond, Virginia, according to a press release issued this week. The company also highlighted plans for additional locations in the state, including stores in Virginia Beach, Abingdon,Norfolk, Bedford and Rustburg. While most of the state’s current Royal Farms locations operate near the coast, the Abingdon, Bedford, and Rustburg locations are much further inland. These planned openings follow the convenience retailer’s recent expansion into State of North Carolina, where it now has three stores and plans to open more. The company has also outlined a large geographical jump into Michigan, where it will begin opening stores within the next few years.I have seen over the past few months very aggressive plans for expansion by many retailers like QuikTrip Casey's and others as part of their expansion into either existing geographies or new geographies.I have also seen other changes like leverage of generative AI, changes to checkout, managing of SKUs, and capitalizing on government funding to build plug-in stations for electrical vehicle infrastructure.Margins are always tight for retailers. This is perfect time to review the SKU management including price adjustment through the data journey (SingleStore and Lynn QuigleyHere are links that can assist with your data and AI journey as part of your planning, forecasting, budgeting, capital planning, cash flow forecasting, analysis, activity-base costing, demand planning, capacity planning, HR planning, and reporting cycles (operational, management, and regulatory):Stock - https://lnkd.in/gyghqTypKey Environmental Areas – https://lnkd.in/gmKExD7aScenario Planning - https://lnkd.in/g2M6Rka4ESG - https://lnkd.in/gnms3fy7Reporting - https://lnkd.in/gARHRXB4Data - https://lnkd.in/g8SvPfDxCircular - https://lnkd.in/gJwAujhpBiodiversity - https://lnkd.in/gJxv-fZj#ESG #margin #Inventory #cashflow #reveue #capitalplanning #EBITDA #EBIT #NetIncome #CostSavings #businessprocessreview

The Asantewaa Report Whole Foods Market has positioned itself as a high-end grocery store, some people even refer to it as ‘whole paycheck”. So when they opened in one of the lowest income neighborhoods in Chicago they were deviating from the norm of their target market. According to residents' the price of products and selection of items was an issue for them. By opening in a neighborhood that did not fit their target market they did a disservice to themselves and the community because after two years of opening the store was closed in 2022 to much backlash from city officials and the community. During the Black Lives Matter protests many companies rushed to show their support for black consumers without researching product or market fit. It does not mean that the community didn’t deserve Whole Foods but at the price, they are selling it that no one could afford in that community. It also does not mean that all black people do not have money, but that community was mismatched for the product. Whole Foods had good intentions however good intentions don’t make the market fit. There are many ways companies can support black communities. Sometimes it doesn't mean opening a store in black communities. There are better ways to invest in black communities in low income communities that can work for brands like Whole foods should have done one of the following: 1. Invest money in existing companies within the community2. Create a product suitable for their income and culture3. Support brands owned by those within that community by providing them access to your market4. Sponsor spaces for them to meet and mingle #community #wholefoods #chicago #foodreport https://lnkd.in/gEFcEf6A
