MARICOPA COUNTY2+ weeks agoAgencyThe Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County was made aware that fraudulent activity is still occurring where scammers call members of the community and threaten them with arrest for failing to appear for jury service. The scammers direct people to pay fines and fees to avoid arrest and jail time. The Court does not fine people by phone for not appearing for jury duty. The Court issues failure to appear notices, and potential jurors are asked to reschedule jury service for a later date. If targeted by a jury scam, write down the phone number of the caller and then notify your local law enforcement agency. Do not give the caller any personal information or agree to provide any payment. Contact your local law enforcement agency if you believe you have fallen victim to this type of fraud. The Phoenix Police Department has released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) which occurred on January 27, 2024. This incident began when officers responded to an emergency call of an armed robbery at a pawn shop located in the area of 19th Ave. and Indian School Rd. An employee for the store called 911 to report the incident and provided a description of a man and women involved. When officers got to the scene, employees pointed out the man and woman who were walking west on Indian School Rd. Officers saw the suspects and gave verbal commands to put the gun down. One officer used a 40 mm less-lethal launcher several times in the direction of the man. The man then approached a truck stopped in the roadway and began to hit the truck’s window with a gun attempting to get in. Officers approached the man at which time four officers fired their duty weapon stopping the man. After the shooting, the man was taken to the hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. https://youtu.be/0PCD6QW52vw135Like116

The Phoenix Police Department has released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) which occurred on February 19, 2024. This incident began in the area of 27th Ave. and Van Buren St. when patrol officers saw a vehicle leave a parking lot at a high rate of speed. The driver of that car said the man slammed both hands on the hood of her car holding a gun. He demanded she give him her car and tried to open her door. Two officers arrived and reported seeing the suspect point his gun at one of the officers. That is when the suspect and one officer exchanged gunfire. The suspect was hit and fell to the ground. After the shooting, officers provided medical aid to the man until fire personnel arrived.
